Register Your Brocade-Supported Equipment

Registering your Brocade-supported equipment requires only a few minutes of time, but can yield a wealth of benefits. It is the first step toward gaining direct access to Brocade expertise and resources, and adopting a predictive, proactive approach to infrastructure management.

Obtaining the World Wide Name (WWN) for Brocade SAN Products, McDATA SAN Products, and Brocade DMM

 
Obtaining the World Wide Name (WWN) for Brocade SAN products varies based on product. Follow the product-specific instructions below to obtain your WWN.
 
For all Brocade SAN products, except those products specifically listed below:
 

Telnet to your director/switch and issue the SwitchShow command, or use Brocade Web Tools.

 For all Brocade HBAs and CNAs:
 

From the command line of the adapter host, type bcu port -list
The PWWN for the FC / FCoE port and MAC addresses for the CEE / Ethernet port will be listed under “PWWN/MAC”.

 For Brocade Mi10K Director:
 
From the command line of the product, type fc show switch 1.
 For Brocade M6140 Director, 4700 Switch, 4400 Switch, and former McDATA Intrepid Directors and Spheron Switches:  
 

Telnet to your director or switch and issue the switch show command, or use SANpilot.

 For former InRange and CNT products acquired by McDATA:
 
From the graphical user interface of the product, right-click in the gray area of a fabric with your mouse and select "System Configuration" to display your WWN.
 
Obtaining the Serial Number for your Brocade or McDATA USD-X Product
 
The serial number is located on the back of the unit toward the upper left. If you have a 12-slot unit, you will need to open the cabinet to view the back of the unit.
 
Obtaining the MAC Address for Brocade WAFS
 
To obtain the Media Access Control (MAC) address, use one of the following methods:
  • Select Start > Run ...
  • Type cmd
  • At the command prompt, type ipconfig/all
  • The MAC address is found on the line labeled "Physical Address"
On a Linux-based Brocade WAFS Appliance:
  • At a system prompt, type ipconfig -a
  • The MAC address is found next to the text "HWaddr"
 
Obtaining the License Activation Key for Brocade StorageX, FLM, and MyView
 
To obtain the License Activation Key, use one of the following methods:

Important Note: You must have permissions to access the registry on the server where the product is installed.
 
 For Brocade File Lifecycle Manager (FLM):
 
1. On server where Brocade FLM is installed click Start->Run. Type "regedit".
2. Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NuView\FLM\Licenses" key in registry.
3. License Activation Key is second string value in right pane.

 For Brocade MyView:
 
1. On server where Brocade MyView is installed click Start->Run. Type "regedit".
2. Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NuView\MyView\Licenses" key in registry.
3. License Activation Key is second string value in right pane.

 For Brocade StorageX:
 
1. On server where Brocade StorageX is installed click Start->Run. Type "regedit".
2. For StorageX versions 5.6 and lower, Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NuView\StorageX\Licenses" key in the registry.
3. For StorageX version 5.8, Select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Brocade\Tapestry StorageX\Licenses" key in registry.
4. License Activation Key is second string value in right pane.
