Brocade SMI Agent

The Brocade SMI Agent allows applications to manage Brocade SAN infrastructures from a single access point by communicating with Brocade Data Center Fabric Manager (DCFM) to gather information from the devices.

Brocade offers the Integrated SMI Agent that combines management of both FOS and M-EOS devices into a single agent. Furthermore, SMI Agent is integrated with Brocade storage network management software - DCFM 10.4 and Network Advisor 11.0. Users will experience greater scalability, reduced overhead of deploying and managing multiple applications, and fewer applications contacting devices for information over the host-based predecessor agents.

You must download Brocade DCFM or Network Advisor to install the Integrated SMI Agent. Prior to installation, consult the Brocade DCFM or Network Advisor server and systems requirements for the size of your environment. During the installation process, you must select either SAN+IP installation type and one of the following:

  1. SAN management for 9000 switch ports and 24 fabrics — 75-day Trial or Licensed Software (requires license key)
  2. SAN management for 2560 switch ports and 4 fabrics — 75-day Trial or Licensed Software (requires license key)
  3. SMI Agent Only — The install defaults to 9000 switch port configuration and requires use of Server Management Console or Web-Start URL to configure SMI. User interface is not available with SMI-A only option.
