Adding to its industry-leading 4 Gbit/sec family of products, Brocade now offers an even wider range of options for extending SAN connectivity and increasing resource utilization. The key business benefits of the new products include:
- Flexible options for consolidating your IT resources
- An affordable way to connect iSCSI servers to Fibre Channel storage and SANs
- The elimination of traditional distance connectivity barriers
- A strategic 4 Gbit/sec strategy that helps future-proof your IT environment
Brocade 4900: A Port-dense Midrange Switch
The Brocade 4900 Switch provides up to 64 ports of 4 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel performance in a flexible, single-domain platform that is well suited for use as an edge switch in large SANs or as the foundation of smaller SANs. The high port density enables you to consolidate larger numbers of switches in order to reduce your SAN fabric complexity and management costs. Using the Ports on Demand feature, you can non-disruptively scale in 16-port increments from 32 to 48 or 64 ports.

Brocade 7500 and FR4-18i: High-performance SAN Extension
The Brocade 7500 Switch and Brocade FR4-18i Blade (used in the Brocade 48000 Director) combine the industry's first 4 Gbit/sec Fibre Channel routing with powerful Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) capabilities. Both platforms feature 16 Fibre Channel ports and two 1 Gigabit Ethernet ports and are designed to enhance inter-SAN connectivity. For instance, you can easily connect SAN islands without physically merging them, extend SAN distance connectivity, increase resource utilization, and simplify network management.

Brocade iSCSI Gateway: Higher SAN Efficiency
The Brocade iSCSI Gateway is a cost-effective solution that extends Fibre Channel storage resources to IP-connected servers, enabling you to rapidly add new servers and clients to your existing Fibre Channel SANs. It features a compact 1U half-rack-width design (full-rack-width design for clustered configurations) with two iSCSI ports for connecting IP-based servers and two Fibre Channel ports for connecting SANs or storage. To provide high performance, it delivers 135 MB/sec of throughput, 9500 IOPS, and up to 100 simultaneous iSCSI connections.
