Brocade blade server SAN switches and the Brocade 200E entry-level switch are key components of enterprise data centers, bringing a wide variety of scalability, manageability, and cost advantages to SAN environments. To expand upon these benefits, Brocade now offers the Brocade Access Gateway for enhanced server connectivity to SANs.
Available in the standard Brocade Fabric OS, this feature is specifically designed for simplifying server and storage connectivity. It does so by enabling direct connection of servers to any SAN fabric, enhancing fabric scalability by eliminating the switch domain identity, and simplifying the removal of local switch device management.
As a complete solution, the Brocade Access Gateway provides:
- Seamless connectivity with any SAN fabric
- Improved scalability
- Simplified management
- Automatic failover and failback for high availability
- Lower total cost of ownership
The Brocade Access Gateway mode eliminates traditional heterogeneous switch-to-switch interoperability challenges by utilizing N_Port ID Virtualization (NPIV) standards to present Fibre Channel server connections as logical devices to SAN fabrics. Attaching through NPIV-enabled edge switches or directors, the Brocade Access Gateway seamlessly connects servers to Brocade, McDATA, Cisco, or other SAN fabrics.
