Based on the EMC RecoverPoint Appliance and the Brocade Application Platform, EMC RecoverPoint on Brocade is designed to provide continuous remote data replication and data protection across heterogeneous IT environments. By leveraging existing Brocade SAN fabrics and WAN connectivity, it helps protect critical applications against data loss and supports a wide range of business continuance initiatives.

This integrated solution provides significant advantages over host- and array-based replication methods, and is available for Windows, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, and VMware server environments that utilize storage devices residing in Fibre Channel SANs.

Using this solution, organizations can achieve their Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), reduce Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) to a matter of seconds, and eliminate daily backup windows. The RecoverPoint Appliance captures all write activity at a primary and remote site. In the event of data loss, organizations can roll back to any point in time and recover data instantly.

If disaster strikes, users and applications can fail over to the replicated volume and storage pool at the remote site. After the primary site is back online, organizations can replicate new data from secondary to primary storage, resynchronize, and then fail back users with complete point-in-time recovery.

EMC RecoverPoint leverages the high-speed processing power of the Brocade Application Platform to perform network-based replication. Every time a server executes a write, the Brocade Application Platform splits the write and sends one copy to primary storage and, via the RecoverPoint Appliance, another copy to secondary storage on the SAN or over a WAN.

RecoverPoint manages the entire process outside the primary data path, so there is no I/O disruption or added latency between servers and primary storage arrays. The solution also replicates data synchronously over short distances or asynchronously over long distances.
