The Brocade 48000 Director is the industry’s leading director-class platform for enterprise SANs, delivering powerful 8Gb and 4Gb connectivity, advanced hardware and software capabilities, and “five-nines” reliability.

The Brocade 48000’s modular design and high port density provides a flexible and scalable solution for large open systems and System z environments in round-the-clock data centers. Organizations can utilize it as a standalone director, at the core of a multi-switch SAN, or at the edge of a Brocade data center fabric architecture.

Utilized in thousands of enterprise SANs worldwide, the Brocade 48000 scales non-disruptively from 32 to as many as 384 concurrently active 8 Gbit/sec or 4 Gbit/sec full-duplex ports in a single domain.

It supports blades for Fibre Channel Routing and FCIP SAN extension, iSCSI host connectivity, 10Gb Fibre Channel over dark fiber, and fabric-based applications. It also connects natively and non-disruptively in Brocade B-Series and M-Series fabrics, protecting existing investments. And, to reduce total cost of ownership, the Brocade 48000 provides best-in-class energy efficiency.

End-to-End Performance and Reliability
Brocade 8Gb blades require Brocade optical transceiver modules, which are available in multiple models to satisfy a wide range of speed and distance requirements. These Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules are optimized for Brocade 8Gb products to maximize performance, reduce power consumption, and help ensure the highest availability of mission-critical applications.
