Supplier Responsibility

Supplier Responsibility

Brocade’s supplier responsibility program is critical to our comprehensive corporate responsibility platform. We continuously integrate best practices and high environmental, social, and governance standards into our global operations.

Our standards

Brocade upholds ethical business practices across our supplier ecosystem. We are strongly committed to a workplace free of human trafficking, forced labor, and child labor.

Brocade is an applicant member of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and has adopted the guidelines established by the EICC Code of Conduct. This Code is based on globally recognized standards for corporate labor, health, ethical, safety, and environmental practices. The EICC is designed to promote a collaborative approach for the global electronics industry to create positive sustainable value for people and the planet. Brocade regards the EICC as a vital part of our internal operations and supply chain governance, and we commit to maintaining conformance with the Code through a continuous improvement approach.

Brocade encourages suppliers to review and adopt the Code or a similar code of conduct, if they have not already done so. We also ask suppliers to adhere to Brocade's Supplier Responsibility Statement.

In addition, Brocade monitors issues around supply chain practices and complies with all relevant regulations.

Please contact CorporateResponsibility@brocade.com with any questions about our corporate responsibility platform or practices.

Supplier Diversity

We created the Brocade Supplier Diversity Program to give small and diverse companies an opportunity to supply the products and services Brocade purchases in the U.S. Our goal is to provide an inclusive environment for suppliers in a range of categories. We set annual goals for supplier participation. And we vigorously communicate the value of supplier diversity across the company.

Simply put, our commitment to supplier diversity reflects a corporate culture of excellence and performance through teamwork and a wide range of perspectives, skills, and approaches. We believe that our diverse suppliers can help us deliver world-class products and services to our customers.

Conflict Minerals

Regarding the sourcing of conflict minerals, Brocade holds itself and its supplier ecosystem to a high standard. Through our robust Conflict Minerals Program we fully comply with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

That is, we source the conflict minerals used in our products in a manner that does not directly finance armed groups perpetrating serious human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or an adjoining country.

We are aggressively engaged with 100% of our Tier I/III suppliers to exercise due diligence on the source and the chain of custody of the conflict minerals in our products and partner with those suppliers to conduct similar due diligence on the conflict minerals in the goods they manufacture and to make their practices transparent upon request.

California Transparency Act

Regarding the practice of human trafficking, Brocade holds itself and its supplier ecosystem to a high standard. We fully comply with the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010 (SB657). This act requires us to disclose our efforts to ensure that our supply chain is free of slavery and human trafficking.

Among other efforts in complying with this important piece of legislation:

  • Brocade has adopted the operating principles of the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct, which prohibits human trafficking and slavery.

  • Brocade conducts an annual assessment of its primary contract manufacturers and certain component suppliers to evaluate actual or potential risks of slavery and human trafficking.

  • Brocade requires its contract manufacturers to certify that the materials used in its products comply with slavery and human trafficking laws in the country or countries of origin or other countries where Brocade does business.

Environmental & Legal Compliance

Brocade's environmental and legal compliance programs are critical to our comprehensive corporate responsibility platform. We continuously integrate best practices and high environmental and governance standards into our global operations.

A broad compliance purview

At Brocade, we comply with regulations in a broad range of areas. Our best practices align with the principles of corporate responsibility we bring to all our business endeavors.

Brocade’s green initiative is driving efficiency in our own and our customers’ data centers. We maintain a streamlined product recycling program that aligns with global requirements for disposing of electronic waste and our corporate environmental initiative. We comply with the RoHS Directive 2100/65/EU that requires us to ensure that our products do not contain certain heavy metals and other hazardous substances. We adhere to REACH reporting requirements, and we meet WEEE collection, recovery, and recycling targets. As a global entity, we adhere to all applicable export laws and relevant regulations of the United States and the countries where we and our subsidiaries and affiliates operate.
