History and Progress

Brocade launched our formal diversity and inclusion initiative in 2011—and we've made great progress.  Through our programs we have: 

  • Enhanced recruiting efforts through relationships with organizations like the National Society of Black Engineers, the Society of Women Engineers, the National Center for Women and Information Technology, and the Anita Borg Institute
  • Expanded partnerships with organizations that serve diverse populations and increased participation in and hosting of job fairs for people with disabilities, veterans, Black/African Americans, and women 
  • Invested in programs such as Dare 2B Digital, Boys & Girls Club, and City Year that support underserved populations and communities through volunteerism and philanthropy that changes the trajectory of at-risk youth and young girls
  • Increased learning and development opportunities that focus on diversity, inclusion, and bias— as well as formal and informal professional and personal development talks, workshops, mentorships and leader-facilitated sessions—for executives and employees alike
  • Increased communication channels that recognize and celebrate diversity, including employee portals that contain tools and tips, and heritage month celebrations
  • Engaged employees to help educate the company on what it means to be a truly inclusive workforce through such channels as our Employee Resource Groups

Employee Resource Groups

Brocade’s Employee Resource Groups are integral to our inclusive environment. They bring together those with common characteristics and interests to provide cultural sharing and understanding—and to work toward Brocade’s success worldwide.

Our current groups:

  • Women In Networking: This flagship diversity program is a learning community of women and men who promote an inclusive work environment where everyone can fully participate in creating business success. 
  • Black Employee Network: The network inspires employee success and advancement while it fosters cultural awareness and understanding of the black community and addresses Brocade’s business objectives. 
  • Military Advocate Group: This is a support network for current and prospective employees with a military background or interest, who are passionate about strengthening the military-friendly aspect of Brocade’s culture. 
  • B-Proud:  This program affirms Brocade’s commitment to equality by promoting a safe and open working environment for all employees, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
