As a Brocade
Certified Fabric Professional, you will learn how to install, configure
and troubleshoot various Brocade products and become proficient in the
intricacies of Brocade switches. To achieve this level of Certification,
you are required to pass one exam.
Prerequisites
None. The Brocade Certified Fabric Professional exam is the foundation
suggested to qualify for the Brocade Certified SAN Manager Certification.
Suggested Curriculum
The Brocade Certified Fabric Professional exam tests against the following
objectives:
Fibre Channel Theory and Concepts
- Given a 24-bit address, decode the components
- Given a scenario, describe the selection of routes within a Brocade
fabric
- Differentiate the attributes of each of the Brocade supported Fibre
Channel classes of services
- Given a switch port, define the valid port types
- Describe the selection process, responsibilities and attributes
of a principal switch
Switch, Fabric OS and Licensed Features
- Given a scenario, demonstrate the ability to interpret the output
and usage of key FOS commands
- Identify the components and associated functions of the FRUs for
Brocade products and their significance to a solution
- Given a scenario, demonstrate knowledge of zoning concepts and
implementation
- Given a zoning scenario, demonstrate knowledge of the impact of
zone usage as it relates to zone merge and I/O operations
- Describe the advantages, rules and processes to implement trunking
and describe associated trunking behavior
- Given a set of long distance and bandwidth requirements, demonstrate
a knowledge of the appropriate long distance technology (e.g., FCIP,
WDM, etc.)
- Identify the role of licensed products (e.g., Fabric Watch, Web
Tools, and Fabric Manager)
SAN Hardware Components
- Describe the various physical layer SAN components such as cables,
SFPs, GBICs
Installation and Configuration
- Perform the initial configuration of a Brocade switch
- Given a scenario, perform port-specific configuration including
port type, trunking, or long distance
- Perform additional switch configuration setup tasks, including
capturing a baseline configuration
- Given a scenario, verify the switch configuration
- Given a scenario, validate the connectivity of devices to the fabric,
and of devices to each other (end-to-end)
Management Interfaces
- Enumerate steps to add a new initiator and target pair to a SAN
- Demonstrate knowledge of the FOS features tools and products used
to monitor a switch/fabric
- Given a scenario, describe the impact of PID format and SAN operation
- Given a scenario, describe the impact of maintenance operations
on a Brocade switch product or fabric (disruptive vs. nondisruptive)
Security and Access Control
- Identify benefits and implementation requirements for secure access
on a Brocade switch product
- Given a scenario, demonstrate knowledge how to administer multiple
user accounts on a Brocade switch/Director
- Given a scenario, describe the base Fabric OS features to increase
the level of fabric security
Troubleshooting
- Given a scenario, demonstrate the ability to determine the operational
state of a Brocade switch product
- Given a scenario, demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot connectivity
issues within the fabric
- Given a scenario, demonstrate knowledge of the relevant tools used
when escalating to the next level
