Brocade Certified SAN Designer 4 Gbit/sec Exam

Welcome to Brocade Training. A Brocade Certified SAN Designer is a candidate with a detailed understanding of SAN design principles as well an expertise in implementing complete SAN solutions. A Brocade Certified SAN Designer must be able assess SAN requirements, identify key SAN design concepts, weigh design trade-offs against various aspects such as manageability, availability, scalability, and performance and translate a SAN architecture into a deployment plan. To achieve this level of expertise you must first pass the Brocade Certified SAN Designer 4 Gbit/sec Exam.

Suggested Curriculum The Brocade Certified SAN Designer 4 Gbit/sec Exam tests against the following objectives:

SAN Assessment/Data Gathering
  • Given a specific business scenario, identify what information should be collected about their current and target environments.
SAN Design
  • Identify Brocade products and third-party components to solve a business problem.
  • Given a scenario, create a SAN design to meet customer performance, availability, and scalability requirements.
  • Given SAN requirements identify which SAN topology to implement. Define the appropriate device attachment scheme to meet availability/performance requirements.
  • Given a scenario, plan existing product/equipment integration.
  • Given a scenario, analyze bandwidth/availability requirements to determine ISL/IFL oversubscription ratios for a SAN design.
  • Define SAN design terms.
  • Describe security features.
  • Given a scenario choose which long distance solution to implement.
  • Given a scenario, design an FC routing solution to share devices between multiple edge fabrics.
  • Given a multi-fabric environment and a requirement for a set of devices to communicate, determine the appropriate solution.
Deployment Plan Documentation
  • Describe the various documentation components or deliverables on a SAN design project.
SAN Monitoring and Tuning
  • Given a scenario, determine how to validate the implementation of the SAN design.
  • Given a scenario, optimize the performance of an existing SAN.
