Brocade Certified SAN Manager (BCSM)

This level of certification indicates that you have a detailed understanding of administering Brocade hardware and software, and managing all components of a SAN through the use of Brocade management tools.

This exam is now one of the electives to help you achieve the SNIA Certified Storage Networking Expert (SCSN-E) credential. For more information on the SCSN-E program visit the SNIA Web site.

As a Brocade Certified SAN Manager you will need to know some concepts related to SAN management, in both B-Series and M-Series environments. The exam will cover a wide variety of Brocade products, technologies and industry concepts that are all related to properly managing a SAN. To achieve this level of Certification, you are required to pass one exam. 

The Brocade Certified SAN Manager exam tests against the following objectives:  

Security

  • Manage SAN security

Management Tools

  • Describe and implement SAN management tools

Reporting and Documentation

  • Given a scenario, demonstrate knowledge of SAN documentation resources
  • Given a scenario, describe the reporting tools and how to use them to document a SAN

Troubleshooting

  • Given a scenario, identify methods and tools for troubleshooting and data gathering
  • Given a scenario, identify the information required to escalate problems to the next level

SAN Monitoring

  • Identify the tools available to monitor SAN performance
  • Given a scenario, demonstrate how to monitor and manage shared devices between edge fabrics
  • Given a scenario, demonstrate how to monitor and manage devices

SAN Configuration

  • Demonstrate how to manage FICON fabrics
  • Given a scenario, describe how to perform routine maintenance
  • Given a scenario, demonstrate how to maintain SAN extension solutions
  • Manage Access Gateway solutions
