vMotion Across Metro Area with VMware and Brocade

Join us for this complimentary webcast with live Q&A:

Date: Thursday, October 20 at 9:00 a.m. PDT
Time: 9:00 a.m. PDT

Cross-site vMotion has always been one of the most highly requested capabilities for VMware vSphere®. Cross-site vMotion enables organizations to perform live migration of applications between datacenters, with no downtime. This is particularly useful for:

  • Avoiding downtime for planned datacenter maintenance
  • Disaster avoidance or migrating applications to another site before a disaster occurs
  • Load balancing across sites
  • Datacenter migrations

This webcast covers a reference architecture to implement a stretched vSphere cluster across two sites within a metro area. This architecture is particularly useful to enable cross-site vMotion and also supports the use of VMware High Availability (HA) to recover applications on the secondary site in the event of site outage. The architecture is based on VMware’s latest vSphere virtualization platform, virtualized storage and cloud-optimized networking. We will discuss the best practices for delivering the required service levels. Brocade will also describe the results of a collaborative solution validation incorporating vMotion over distance, EMC VPLEX virtual storage and Brocade VM aware networking infrastructure.

Featured Speakers:
Jason Nolet, VP, Data Center and Enterprise, Brocade
Gaetan Castelein, Director, Product Marketing, VMware
